I’m delighted to announce that myself, Lisa Randall and Ian Pollard raised £8764 for Ashgate Hospice in memory of my beautiful Terri James. Ashgate cared for Terri for the final few weeks of her life, and Terri herself had been fundraising for cancer and hospice charities just weeks before she herself needed hospice.
Terri very much enjoyed being part of the Tideswell community and her involvement in various projects throughout the village such as The Tea Club, Kitchen Garden, Repair Cafe and the Food Festival. She was a unique and wonderful person, fearless in her ability to face life challenges head on, generous with her time, a giver with a big heart who loved baking for others.
Terri had such a positive influence on so many people, not the least of whom was Lisa Randall, who walked 870 miles to raise money for Ashgate in memory of her friend. Lisa, who had been a personal training client of Terri’s, set off from Chester on 27 December 2024 and walked to Chepstow, in southeast Wales. It took seven and half months, carried out in stages, while living out of her micro camper. She also organized film nights, book swaps and sold bracelets along the way to raise money for the cause. In Lisa’s words, “Terri was a proud Yorkshire woman with a passion for the arts, and travelling, and inspiring and empowering those she trained. She even ran both the London and New York marathons.”
Lisa raised alone over £4,610
In addition to Lisa’s achievement, Ian Pollard cycled throughout Northern Italy and raised £900. And continuing with Terri’s passion- for-exercise legacy, Megan Neslon through her strength training class has raised £285 for Ashgate to date.
I, personally, am grateful to everyone who donated and supported both Terri through her cancer and me through my loss.
