A Season of Remembering
As the nights draw in and we approach Advent, we go through a season of Remembering – starting on the 1st November with All Saints Day, or “All Hallows,” we move towards Remembrance Day on the 11th. This is so often a time when our thoughts turn towards our memories of those we love but see no longer.
So, on Saturday the 31st October, All Hallows Eve, the 4 churches in Tideswell Parish (St John’s Tideswell, Christ Church Litton, St John’s Cressbrook and St Margaret’s, Wormhill) will be open between 10am and 3pm – and during these hours there will be space and places for prayer, for reflection. There will be some short said prayers at least once an hour in each church.
On Sunday 1st November (All Saints Day) there will be a Memorial Service at 3pm followed by some tea and cakes in St John the Baptist, Tideswell. A chance to come to give thanks, to light a candle, to hold space for all the emotions – sorrow, joy, peace and yes even anger… a service to come together with others. Everyone is welcome – why not come and find out more… and yes, we will be sharing there how to join in with Memorial Candles on Christmas Eve.
