Tideswell and District Community Land Trust update

Many thanks to everyone who responded to the Derbyshire Dales District Council (DDDC) Housing Needs Survey questionnaire last year. There were a total of 142 responses.

The results of the survey have been issued – you can download the full report here: https://bitt.ly/tideswellhns. Some of you may have seen the results at the Open Meeting which the Tideswell and District Land Trust team held at the Tideswell Community Hall at the end of November last year.

In summary, the survey showed that there is considerable housing need in Tideswell and Litton. A total of 45 households with connections to Tideswell or Litton are defined as being in housing need – a mix of younger people who have had to move away from family to find more affordable accommodation, and more elderly people whose current accommodation doesn’t meet their needs.

The TDCLT are working with DDDC to identify a potential solution to address some of this housing need through a scheme of affordable housing. Any housing developed will be managed by a Housing Association and subject to the usual Peak District National Park “10 year connection” clause where people have to demonstrate a connection to the Parish (or an adjoining Parish) for 10 years out of the last 20 years. We’ll update everyone as soon as there is more news to share.
