The Tideswell Food Festival has been an amazingly successful event since it started in 2011. Last year nearly 60 traders graced the village. St John’s Church also hosted the ever popular Makers Market.
Preparing for the festival throughout the year and ensuring that it runs smoothly on the day takes a lot of planning. Everything is done by volunteers. Their effort is, though, very much worth it. The festival helps put Tideswell on the visitor’s map and it has become a fixture in the local calendar of events.
It also contributes substantial funds for the benefit of the village community. St John’s raises money from the Makers Market which helps support the upkeep of the church. It is also the main fundraising event for the village scouts. The organising committee estimates that the event has raised about £25,000 over the years for community projects such as renovating the war memorial and supporting the volunteer-run library.
In order for the festival to succeed again next year the organising committee needs some extra help. Could this be you? If so, the committee would love to hear from you.
